Dyslexia Day

Levelland ISD students wore red last week to raise awareness of and celebrate the incredible minds of individuals with dyslexia. Students were reminded of an inspiring message about overcoming the challenges of dyslexia and that learning differently doesn't mean you can't achieve great things! Mrs. Edwards used grapefruits, pipe cleaners, and Lifesaver Gummies, so students could explore how using multiple senses helps our brains build stronger connections called dendrites, which play an important role in learning and remembering new information. Did you know that famous filmmaker Steven Spielberg has dyslexia? Despite experiencing challenges with reading, he went on to become one of the most successful directors in movie history! His story is a powerful reminder that dyslexia does not define a person's intelligence, creativity, or potential. When we wore red, it was more than just wearing a color. We raised awareness, building understanding, celebrated differences, and reminded every student that there is no single way to learn or succeed! At Levelland ISD, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, embrace their unique abilities, and Find Their Place!
