Digestive System Study

LMS seventh-graders in Mrs. April Rodriguez's science class have been studying the digestive system.  To make sure that students had total comprehension, Mrs. Rodriguez held a lab to experience the entire process of food going through the digestive system. Students started with a piece of bread chewed by incisors and molars (a spoon grinding), using saliva to soften the food. The food went down the esophagus into the stomach (baggy), where it was mixed with hydrochloric acid (soda pop) that continued to soften the food. The food continued through the small intestine and large intestine to expulsion (knee-high hose).  Students loved the lesson so much that they recorded it on their own phones and reviewed important vocabulary words all the while.  It was a great lesson that they will never forget!  These students are so lucky to have Mrs. Rodriguez as a science teacher! You're in the right place!
