Congratulations Maximus Chapa!

Levelland Middle School competed in a Cyber Robotics Coding Competition, and it concluded Christmas break. Before the break, Maximus Chapa advanced LMS to the Midwest Playoffs in CoderZ League, took out the Engineering Team at Cockrill Middle School out of McKinney, and earned a place in the top 16 in the Midwest. He impressed the announcers by collecting the most points for a team in Region 1 that day. He advanced to the top 8, taking out All Saints Catholic School out of Dallas, on December 22nd. However, on December 23rd, he could not take out Unity Team located in Sulphur Springs. The games were aired on Twitch on gocoderz channel. Levelland Middle School is extremely proud of Maximus Chapa. Mrs. Rejino stated, “he is definitely a top coder in the Midwest Region and is a fierce competitor.” With virtual learning still occurring across the United States, many schools expressed interest in a Spring coding competition again! Max Chapa and the 806 LoboZ Team are on the hunt for gold in the Midwest and want the opportunity to compete against the world in CoderZ League. Max plans to attempt it again in the Spring. He will collect a small team to help him. LMS and LISD wish him the best of luck, and may the code be with him! The rest of the Levelland Middle School’s GEAR students will compete with LEGO Robots out of Texas Tech’s College of Engineering GEAR Competition. They will face off against area schools across West Texas and New Mexico this Spring. #LevellandISD
